Got free tickets from work so w ent and saw The Who last night in Philly. Didn’t really know how they were going to sound and... it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.

They play with a different orchestra at each tour stop which is a feat in itself for a 2+ hour show. Roger Daltrey absolutely killed ‘ Love, Reign o’er Me’ and Pete Townshend was equally as impressive doing his famous windmil ls .

Kinja'd!!!

Still more people than Trump’s inauguration

Kinja'd!!!

And to keep it car-related, after the show there was a flock of Samurais!

Rock and Roll was this dangerous, youthful rebellious thing, that got extremely old (“ I hope I die before I get old” as some long forgotten rocker once declared) and just kept trucking. The Rolling S tones “steel wheelchair” joke is 25 years old at this point.  The Who are one of the “living fossil” bands I have not seen, but they may go on until I’m an old man.  The Baby Boomers are what they are, but they sure had great music and cool cars.

I certainly wasn’t the oldest one there but Townshend called out some “teeny boppers” in the front rows and had great interaction with the crowd in general. Whether it is teenage wasteland or middle-aged wasteland didn’t make a difference :) Would definitely recommend seeing them if you get a chance.

The only dinosaur that had a dissapointing show was “Zombie Bob Dylan”, a re-animated corpse fronting a really tight blues band.  I was aware of his live reputation, but Mrs Doorhandle is still mad about his shitty concert.  Saw John Fogerty two weeks ago, he played an hour and 50 of nonstop solid gold big hits.

You’d have to pay me to see Bob Dylan.  I was lucky enough to see Tom Petty before he passed.

Yeah, we had Bob Dylan and Lenny Kravitz (a journeyman and total pro) the same week, We opted to go see zombie Dylan (due to my reverence for all things 60 s and 70s, which has gone on for longer than the actual 60 s/70s) He played Mr tambourine man and it took us 7/8ths of the song to recognize it. S hould have gone to see Lenny.

Dick jokes aside, Lenny probably puts on a great show too . I think I might have to go see him next time he’s in Philly.
